Whether you're a new business owner or just thinking about starting your own business, this day has a series of workshops that will tell you everything you need to know about getting your idea off the ground. These workshops are free, they are available to everyone, and you can come to one workshop, a couple, or for the whole day. Each workshop is designed to give you the knowledge needed to ensure you set your business venture up to succeed.
As you settle in with your first coffee for the day, we will do a couple of exercises geared towards identifying what you are looking to get out of the day, and how to ‘train your brain’ to be on the look out for the cues to get the answers you want.

Take notes as Kris walks you through the various legal stages of making your business idea a trading reality.

10:30 - 12:00Building Your Brand - the WHAT / HOW / WHY of Your Business
In-depth business plans can be a lot for a small business owner to digest, but every business owner needs to understand WHAT they are doing that makes them unique / special, HOW they are going to do it, and WHY they are doing it. Through answering these three questions, you will learn to truly understand your purpose for being in business, and how this purpose will shape your brand, marketing, and business development strategies.

12:45 - 14:15Legal Compliance Bootcamp - Insuring Your Business
Haven’t I got all the cover I need? Unless you understand insurance law, it’s tough to know if you have adequately ‘covered your backside’ as you start your business. Shelley will explain the basic cover needed for any small business, the types of extended cover available to specialist businesses, as well emerging trends in cyber security insurance.

14:30 - 15:30Hands-On Finances for Beginners
There is a saying that goes, “you don’t know your business until you know it’s finances.” This is very true, but you don’t need to be an accountant to understand the basic accounting principles that apply to your day-to-day financial decision making. In this workshop, you will learn the difference between a profit and loss statement and balance sheet, as well as how to create a cash flow budget, and how to determine the sale price for your product or service.
